Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 24, 2025

SipSpot is a cafe discovery and review app based around finding cafés best for remote work. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a username you choose. You may optionally add a profile photo.

Reviews and content. We collect the reviews, star ratings, photos, and other content you submit about cafes.

Location. We request access to your device's location to show cafes near you and to suggest ratings when you've been at a cafe. We may use location in the background to detect when you've visited a cafe. We do not sell or share your precise location with third parties.

Photos. If you attach photos to reviews or a profile picture, those images are stored on our servers. Photos you upload may be reviewed to check for inappropriate content.

Social activity. We store information about friends you add, cafes you favorite or bookmark, and interactions such as likes and replies on reviews.

Usage data. We may collect basic information about how you use the app (such as screens visited) to improve the product. This data is not linked to your identity.

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:

Service providers. We use Supabase to store your account data and app content, and Google for maps and place search. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.

Other users. Your username, profile photo, reviews, and public activity (favorites, saves) are visible to other users of SipSpot, including friends you connect with.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

5. Children's Privacy

SipSpot is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your Rights

You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by contacting us at the email below. You can delete your account directly in the app via the Profile settings.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
